Growing up in Delhi, Mythili saw education as a key cornerstone of her life. Her mother, a technical author specialising in computer science, and her father, a pre-publisher, cultivated in her the value of a quality education from an early age. This belief inspired her career goals and was also a recurring theme in her MBA applications.
Mythili pursued chemical engineering at IIT Delhi. While excelling academically, she actively took part in impactful extracurricular activities that helped make IIT Delhi’s campus a more inclusive space for all her peers.
Another milestone from her college years was her involvement with “Enactus,” where she co-led “Project Daksha.” This initiative partnered with young individuals from low-income settlements in Delhi to provide training in English communication and MS Office. Leveraging her network at IIT Delhi and collaborating with platforms like Apna, the project connected participants with higher-paying job opportunities. The team’s efforts won the “Enactus National Competition” in 2021.
Beyond impact initiatives, Mythili also took up some interesting and diverse internships. She conducted research on educational disparities in developing countries at Johns Hopkins University. At Bain, she took a consulting internship that introduced her to strategic problem-solving skills.
Mythili also worked closely with her mother on a startup that aims to create a comprehensive platform connecting various stakeholders in the education industry. This experience expanded her understanding of the challenges in education and deepened her resolve to drive systemic change.
She decided to apply for a deferred MBA program during her final year at IIT Delhi. Although initially unfamiliar with the concept, seeing seniors succeed in deferred MBA applications inspired her.
Mythili partnered with Admission Gateway and worked closely with Nisha. Nisha’s expertise and empathetic approach ensured every aspect of her application was well-crafted, from her resume to essays. Mythili’s dedication and efforts paid off with admissions to Wharton and Booth. The Wharton admission particularly opened doors to exciting opportunities, including her current role at a startup led by a Wharton alum.
With the deferred MBA admit in hand, Mythili feels confident to take risks and focus on impactful initiatives without the pressure of adhering to traditional career paths.
