Aastha Bhutani was admitted to Harvard Business School, The Wharton School, and The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, with scholarships from HBS and Wharton.

Growing up in India, she noticed early that the same loan could look very different depending on who was asking for it. That stayed with her.

After IIT Bombay and a year in risk analytics at Goldman Sachs, she joined slice in Bengaluru, one of India's fastest-growing fintechs. She worked on making credit easier to understand and use. Later she took on collections, the part of lending most companies would rather not look at.

Then she moved to Jakarta to join Skor Technologies, in a market at a much earlier stage. Many of the people Skor serves have never had a credit score. Instead of improving systems that already existed, she was helping build the basic ones, often where people said it couldn't be done.

Working across two markets at such different stages gave her a view few people get. She has seen what India's credit system has figured out, what it still gets wrong, and what it takes to build one from much closer to zero.

When she started working with the Admissions Gateway team (huge shout out to Gauri Jaswal, Simar Ahluwalia, Nisha Kaul and Rohan Seth), the thread was already there. Who gets access to credit, and what it costs the people who don't.

For anyone weighing Round 2 this year, her HBS admit came from it. The round is tougher, but people who give it a real shot do get in.

Harvard Business School, Stanford University Graduate School of Business, The Wharton School and MIT Sloan School of Management. All four admits. All in Round 2.

That combination is hard to pull off in any round. Doing it in Round 2 makes it a bigger result, and Tushar Goswamy did not plan to be there. His GRE score came back too late for the first deadline, which is the point where a lot of people quietly decide to wait a year.

He did not wait. He was in the middle of building a new business line at Sarvam, work that does not pause for six weeks of essay drafts, so the applications happened alongside it.

Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, then McKinsey & Company, then early-stage AI. What does not fit neatly on a resume is the part that has stayed constant across all three. He has spent most of the last several years around technology that has to work for people who were not the intended user, and he has kept doing that kind of work whether or not it was his job at the time.

The work went into narrowing. A profile like his can support three different applications, and the instinct is to put everything on the page. Putting everything on the page is usually what flattens it.

Nisha Kaul was with him through the whole of it, from the late score onward, and she deserves the larger share of the credit here.

Four siblings from one household, nine offers between them from The Wharton School, Columbia Business School and MIT Sloan School of Management. Eight came through deferred admission, won while they were still college seniors with no full-time work behind them.

What makes it worth reading is not the count. Put the four applications side by side and you would not guess they came from the same family.

Navya works in investment banking at TD Securities in New York, and her subject is cybersecurity. She thinks trust should be built into the infrastructure the way a city builds in clean water, and built for the people who usually get it last.

Nirav is an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, after three years in capital markets and two in management consulting covering technology and media. He produced a long-running interview series with chief executives, brought India's Finance Minister to Wharton in October 2024, and co-chaired the 29th Wharton India Economic Forum in Mumbai, where the Minister of Commerce and Industry delivered the keynote.

Dhwanikta is a consultant at Deloitte in London, working on capital markets transformation. She had watched the same gap from three seats before she applied: an audit firm, a national investment agency, and a bank in London sitting at the other end of that pipe.

Vatsal is an investment banking associate at Morgan Stanley in the Global Industrials group. During COVID he worked as an independent strategic consultant to the state of Gujarat on the Vande Bharat Mission, running supply chain and logistics planning for the effort to bring stranded citizens home.

All four are TEDx speakers. All four have published research. Each has co-authored a book that became a bestseller on Amazon India.
