Harish Nanjala's Journey: From Starting a Business to Academic Success

A  graduate from Nirma University, Harish had already embarked on an entrepreneurial journey, founding Augen Media Works at just 19 years of age. With a mere three years in the business world, he aspired to leap into the realms of global business leadership through a top-tier MBA program.

Despite his early success, Harish faced the daunting challenge of balancing his intense work schedule while navigating the complex MBA application process. His first encounter with a local consultancy in Bangalore proved inadequate, unable to accommodate the unique demands of a burgeoning entrepreneur.

This challenge turned into an opportunity when Harish discovered Admissions Gateway and Rajdeep, introduced by a Wharton School of Business alumna. Rajdeep’s approach was different. He didn’t just see a profile; he saw a person with ambitions, constraints, and a story that needed to be told. Harish recalls, “Rajdeep’s patience and insight weren’t just about filling out applications. He was sculpting future leaders.”

Over the next 11 months, a personalized roadmap unfolded. Duke University Fuqua School of Business, Harish’s dream school, was the pinnacle of this journey. AG’s tailored strategy was a blend of meticulous planning and deep understanding of Harish’s unique entrepreneurial background.

Prior to his MBA, Harish’s life was a tapestry of diverse experiences. From a small village in Nagulavancha, Harish grew up in an agrarian family, enriched with stories of hard work and resilience. His education at Nirma University was not just about academics; it was a period of cultural and linguistic exploration, culminating in his presidency of culture and Augen media works.

The inception of Augen Media Works was a testament to his tenacity. Starting with limited funds, Harish’s enterprise burgeoned into a successful marketing firm, serving a global clientele, and generating an impressive $2 million in annual turnover. His accolades included being recognized as a “30 Under 30” entrepreneur, underscoring his remarkable business acumen.

At IIM Ahmedabad, Harish extended his influence, contributing to startups and nurturing his passion for entrepreneurship. His drive for an MBA stemmed from a desire to excel in global business, with aspirations to emerge as an international leader.

Harish’s story is a vivid illustration of the transformative power of family values, hard work, and humility. Despite his achievements, he remains grounded, stating, “I am humble because that’s the core of who I am, regardless of my success.”

AG’s guidance was instrumental in Harish securing two significant scholarship offers, totaling $110,000 from Duke and Cornell. Out of eight applications, he received interview invites from six, leading to admissions from Duke, Cornell, and McCombs School of Business.

Today, as Harish started his MBA at Duke Fuqua School of Business, he stands on the cusp of global leadership, poised to establish an overseas venture. His journey with AG is not just about admissions; it’s a narrative of realizing potential and forging a path of extraordinary achievements.

Harish concludes, “For those embarking on the MBA journey, understand yourself, find the right mentor, and embrace the process. With AG, it’s not just about getting through; it’s about emerging as a leader ready for the global stage.”
