Elevating Healthcare: How Ansh’s Passion Enabled Him To Get Accepted Into Harvard & Wharton

Born and raised in Alwar, Rajasthan, India, Ansh grew up in a family that valued education and intellectual curiosity. His father, originally from Malabar, Rajasthan, instilled in him the importance of hard work and adaptability. While he spent most of his early childhood in Alwar, Rajasthan, occasional visits to his ancestral hometown gave him a broader cultural perspective, shaping his ability to adapt to different environments. As a young student, he had an analytical mind and a keen interest in business, economics, and problem-solving.

While Ansh had initially considered studying abroad for his undergraduate degree, his outstanding 12th grade exam results enabled him to get admitted to Shri Ram College of Commerce. SRCC’s reputation convinced him to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Economics in India and delay his plans to move abroad.

During college he actively participated in business-focused extracurriculars. Through Enactus he worked on social entrepreneurship projects to solve real-world problems and create impact on a larger scale. He was also a part of The Business Conclave, where he engaged with industry leaders and top corporate minds, sharpening his understanding of market dynamics.

After completing his undergrad, Ansh began his career in consulting at McKinsey & Company, where he worked directly with senior leaders of different industries to solve high-impact problems. After a little over a year at McKinsey, he transitioned into the VC space, joining Elevation Capital, where he worked closely with early-stage startups and entrepreneurs. This experience gave him first-hand exposure to India’s startup ecosystem and deepened his interest in health tech investments.

During his time at Elevation Capital, Ansh realized that while industries like EdTech and FinTech were booming in India, health tech remained underdeveloped. Despite the high impact potential of healthcare technology, funding and innovation in the sector were limited, and most companies focused more on incremental changes rather than disruptive solutions.

This insight, combined with his personal experience of witnessing the consequences of a misdiagnosis in his family, fueled his decision to transition into a strategy role in the healthcare sector. He joined Abbott in the CEO’s Office, where he worked on high-stakes projects aimed at solving critical healthcare challenges in India.

While Ansh had considered studying abroad during his undergraduate years, his motivation for pursuing an MBA became stronger when he realized that to make a significant impact in the health tech space and develop leadership skills, he needed a global network of accomplished professionals in business and healthcare, and leadership training to prepare for high-stakes decision-making.

Given that the US is a global leader in health tech innovation, he saw an MBA as the perfect opportunity to gain insights from cutting-edge research and business models, which he could later bring back to India.

Applying to top business schools, Ansh found the right mentorship at Admissions Gateway. “Rajdeep helped me craft a powerful resume that highlighted impact over responsibilities,” says Ansh. He received admits from The Wharton School with a $100,000 scholarship and Harvard Business School.

After careful consideration, Ansh has decided to join Harvard Business School this fall to fulfill his long-term vision of bringing cutting-edge healthcare innovations to India to address the structural gaps in the country’s healthcare system.
