Gauri Jaiswal Is Getting Her Second MBA

Gauri Jaiswal has a Bachelor of Business Studies from Delhi University, an MBA in Finance & Strategy from Indian School of Business (ISB) and is currently getting an MBA from Booth.

Upon graduating, Gauri got a placement as an Associate at Bain Capability Network. Gauri says she was always interested in healthcare delivery in India as she comes from a family of doctors, so she requested a Bain externship with NITI Aayog, the apex public policy think tank of the Government of India. Gauri was selected and advised the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) on the world’s largest healthcare insurance scheme benefiting over half a Billion Indians.

With three years of experience at Bain, Gauri decided the time was right for an MBA. She chose to attend ISB from amongst the schools she was offered seats at as she thought it would have the highest return-on-investment.

Post-MBA, Gauri applied to the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) as she wanted to continue to learn about healthcare delivery in India. This was in March 2020, when India was amidst the first-wave of COVID. Gauri worked with the Indian Council of Medical Research and the MoHFW to scale COVID-19 testing by 1000%.

Working at CHAI gave Gauri exposure to foreign teammates and the western world that she says she had not had before and a year later, she realised the quickest path to exposure and network building was a US MBA.

Gauri worked with Admissions Gateway and she says her counsellor was instrumental in driving her whole application; crafting her entire story, helping her understand how to think about her profile. Gauri also says her counsellor was always available and very proactive in making sure she was prepared for her interviews.

“Admissions Gateway was in the driving seat of my entire application and took complete ownership of my profile.”

Gauri says the most important thing she learnt from working with Admissions Gateway was extreme clarity of thought about short and long term goals, which continue to benefit her even now that she is at B-school.

“The sooner you have that clarity of thought, the better it is for your application, as it makes it easier to draft a story that makes complete sense”
